I am an avid adventurer, conservationist, teacher, and outdoor photographer whose photography celebrates the African landscape and its rich wildlife, people, and culture. My photographic safaris allow my travelers to not only enhance their understanding of photography, lighting, and wildlife, but to develop a life-long admiration for Africa ‘s beauty and culture.

Banana Republic recently used my photographs as the cornerstone of their Urban Safari campaign, and my images were seen in all 750 stores around the globe, as well as in their billboards, catalogs and annual report. I was also the winner of the BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year in the ‘Wild Places’ category in 2008 and a highly commended in the ‘Creative Visions of Nature’ category in 2007.

I launched Gura Gear in 2008, in an attempt to deliver lightweight camera bags to the market. I was looking for a lightweight camera bag to hold all of my photographic gear, and there was nothing desirable on the market that suited my needs. After spending 2 years with many prototypes, the Gura Gear Kiboko bag was born. More products are now available on the Gura Gear web site.

Items for sale (update)

Well, it is time to clean out my photographic closet of items that I haven't used in the past year or two. Here is a quick list of the items that are for sale. If you would like photos of the items, please email me at info@andybiggs.com and I will send them over to you.

Fotoman 6x24 panorama camera with 180mm and 300mm lens cones (lenses have been sold)


I have owned the Fotoman since 2007, and the camera creates HUGE panorama images that is larger than any other format on the market. Fotoman went out of business this past spring, so there are no other 6x24 cameras that are being manufactured. The beautiful thing about Fotoman cameras is that you can bring your own large format lens to the party, and you can buy the appropriate cone for your given focal length. Focusing is done with a helical focusing ring, which I have found to be quite accurate. Comes with a ground glass for critical focusing, as well as distance rangefinder and viewfinder with masks for each focal length

$2100 for the entire lot.

Like new 1.6GHz MacBook Air with 64GB Solid State Drive (SSD). Also included are worthwhile extras - the MacBook Air USB Ethernet adapter, RGB video adapter, DVI adapter and a black InCase neoprent custom fitted sleeve to protect this ultra-thin and ultra light notebook.

This unit has only been used on a few of my overseas trips, and has been an excellent performer. Highly recommended machine! I cannot think of a better travel machine for those who want the lightest machine on the market.

All original packing, original manual, disks, etc are included. I am selling the machine and accessories for $950 (Updated 09-03-09) including shipping to the 48 contiguous United States. This item can not be exported. I originally paid $2700 for this machine 15 months ago!
