About Andy

Andy Biggs is an avid adventurer, conservationist, teacher, and outdoor photographer whose photography celebrates the African landscape and its rich wildlife, people, and culture. With a deep respect and understanding for African wildlife, Andy unfolds the world of the Serengeti onto our doorstep with striking emotional depth. His photographic safaris allow the traveler to not only enhance their understanding of photography, lighting, and wildlife, but to develop a life-long admiration for Africa 's beauty and culture.

Banana Republic recently used Andy's photographs as the cornerstone of their Urban Safari campaign, and his images were seen in all 750 stores around the globe, as well as in their billboards, catalogs and annual report. Andy was also the winner of the BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year in the 'Wild Places' category in 2008 and a highly commended in the 'Creative Visions of Nature' category in 2007.

Andy launched Gura Gear in 2008, in an attempt to deliver lightweight camera bags to the market. Andy was looking for a lightweight camera bag to hold all of his photographic gear, and there was nothing desirable on the market that suited his needs. After spending 2 years with many prototypes, the Gura Gear Kiboko bag was born.

Items for sale

I just got through cleaning out my studio space, and I have the following items that are gathering dust. They are priced to move, just so I can reclaim the space.

15" Apple Macbook Pro 2.4ghz Core 2 Duo (2 cores in total) with 2GB of memory. I upgraded the hard drive to 500GB. No box, small dent on a corner and well cared for. Includes a Lost Luggage neoprene sleeve, remote control and charger. Also included are two blazing fast Delkin Expresscard34 CF and SD card readers! $950.

SOLD Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8. I bought the lens from a dear friend in a complete Nikon kit, and I haven't used the lens at all. It is a Nikon Canada lens, however if you ever have an issue I can handle any repairs if needed. Normally they sell for $1600 or more used, however I have misplaced the original box and paperwork, so I am discounting the lens to compensate. This will make for an excellent buy at only $1500 shipped to USA or Canada.

Canon iPF8100 44" wide format printer. This is one heck of a beast, and I really prefer to not have to deal with the actual shipping of the printer. My preference is to find a local buyer or somebody who can arrange to have it picked up. The printer has been well taken care of, and have run only 1 set of inks through it. The new set of inks ($2k worth) was recently installed, and I have an extra Black ink still in the box. If you are not familiar with the 8100, it is the fastest printer on the market, and has both black inks installed at the same time (not like the Epson 9900 which has to swap blacks at the printhead). Printer was originally $5500 plus 485lbs for freight and will sell for $2800.
